Link List: Puppy Crush Activist

This week I've been reading quite a lot of Korean soft news, transgender issue blogs, and general black folk stuff.

Puppy mills are very, very bad. [Global Post]

The new Crush album (Korean R&B) actually kind of warrants the media anticipation. [YouTube]

How come we never learn about things like THIS in world history? [The Root]

As a black woman who has been evicted once and homeless twice, I have no problem believing this article about how in the US eviction:black women = prison:black men. [Washington Post]

People are mad that Disney teen queen Zendaya just got cast in the Aaliyah biopic. I'm indifferent solely because this is a Lifetime movie. Hollywood just threw much darker shade than anybody on a blog every could. [Variety]

I find transwoman Laverne Cox interesting and talented, but oddly unlikable. [Elle]

On that note, I don't really agree with the stance of this blog, but it's one of the few places pointing out how weirdly hysterical and anti-feminist transactivism can be, and how alienating it can be for non-trans women. On the flip side, it's also a frightening example of how hysterical and pseudo-academic the overall response against transgender people can be. I wish there was a REASONABLE voice pointing these things out though. [GenderTrender]
